Plagiarism Policy

Promoting Originality and Upholding Academic Integrity

The International Journal of Life Science and Agriculture Research (IJLSAR) is steadfast in its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of ethics and integrity in scholarly publishing. Plagiarism undermines scientific trust, damages reputations, and dilutes the value of genuine research. Therefore, IJLSAR has established a clear, comprehensive plagiarism policy that applies to all submissions.

1. Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:

Direct copying of text, ideas, images, or data from another source without proper citation.

Paraphrasing significant sections of work from other authors without acknowledgment.

Self-plagiarism (duplicate publication) by reusing substantial sections of one’s own previously published work without transparent disclosure.

Improper attribution of material contributed by others, including collaborators, students, or technical assistants.

2. Screening and Detection

Initial Review: All submitted manuscripts are routinely screened for plagiarism prior to peer review using recognized plagiarism detection software.

Thresholds: A similarity index above internationally accepted guidelines or significant unattributed overlap will trigger further investigation.

Manual Assessment: Editors review flagged content to ensure proper context and detect subtle or mosaic plagiarism.

3. Author Responsibilities

Authors must ensure submitted work is entirely original and properly cites all sources, including data, text, and images.

Permission must be obtained for any material not under an open license.

Relevant previous publications by any of the authors must be transparently cited and clearly distinguished from the current submission.

4. Consequences of Plagiarism

If plagiarism is detected at any stage (before or after publication):

Pre-Publication: The manuscript may be rejected, and authors will be notified with an explanation.

Post-Publication: Published articles found to contain plagiarism will be retracted; a retraction notice will be issued detailing the ethical breach.

Authors and their institutions may be informed of serious ethical violations as per COPE guidelines.

Repeated or severe offenses can result in a permanent ban from submitting to IJLSAR.

5. Self-Plagiarism and Redundant Publication

Text recycling is permitted for methodological or background descriptions only if properly referenced and disclosed in the cover letter.

Republishing the same data or findings in multiple journals without full transparency is strictly prohibited.

6. Proper Citation and Attribution

All quotations, paraphrases, and data or image use from other works must be fully credited in the reference list.

Authors are encouraged to follow recognized citation styles (APA or Harvard) and use quotation marks for verbatim text.

7. Appeals and Clarifications

Authors who disagree with plagiarism findings may appeal by providing a detailed response and evidence.

All appeals are handled transparently according to IJLSAR and COPE best practices.

8. Education and Guidance

IJLSAR supports ongoing education for authors and reviewers about plagiarism and responsible publishing.

Guidance and resources will be made available on the journal website.
