Authorship and Contributionship
Upholding Integrity, Transparency, and Fair Credit in Scholarly Publishing
The International Journal of Life Science and Agriculture Research (IJLSAR) adheres to the highest international standards for authorship and contribution recognition, in alignment with guidelines from COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics), ICMJE (International Committee of Medical Journal Editors), and other leading scholarly bodies. This policy ensures that all contributors receive appropriate credit and that research integrity is preserved throughout the publication process.
1. Authorship Criteria
To qualify for authorship in IJLSAR publications, each listed author must have made substantial, direct contributions in all of the following areas:
Research Design or Execution: Significant involvement in the conception, design, data acquisition, or data analysis and interpretation of the submission.
Manuscript Preparation: Drafting, writing, or critically revising important scientific content.
Final Approval: Reviewing and approving the final manuscript version prior to submission and publication.
Accountability: Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work, ensuring accuracy, originality, and integrity.
Note: Individuals who contribute to only one or two aspects (e.g., funding acquisition, editorial support, data collection) should be acknowledged in the ‘Acknowledgments’ section, not included as authors.
2. Author Contributions Statement
All submissions must include a detailed Author Contributions Statement specifying the precise role(s) undertaken by each author using the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) system, which may include:
Conceptualization
Methodology
Software
Validation
Formal Analysis
Investigation
Resources
Data Curation
Writing – Original Draft
Writing – Review & Editing
Visualization
Supervision
Project Administration
Funding Acquisition
This statement should be included in the manuscript and will be published with the article.
3. Order of Authors and Corresponding Author
The order of authors should reflect the relative contribution of each individual, agreed upon by all involved, and finalized prior to submission.
The corresponding author is responsible for all communication with the journal during manuscript submission, peer review, and publication stages, and for ensuring that all authors approve the final manuscript and submission.
Changes to authorship (additions, deletions, or order) after initial submission require:
Written agreement from all authors.
A written explanation and approval from the editorial office.
4. Acknowledgment of Non-Author Contributors
Contributions that do not meet full authorship criteria should be recognized in the Acknowledgments section (e.g., technical support, editorial advice, financial support).
All individuals acknowledged must give written permission for their recognition.
5. Authorship Disputes and Ethics
Any authorship disputes must be resolved prior to manuscript submission.
In unresolved cases, IJLSAR will follow COPE and ICMJE procedures to investigate and address complaints, possibly involving authors’ institutions.
6. Responsibilities and Ethical Declarations
All authors are responsible for conflict of interest disclosures and for ensuring the work is original and unpublished elsewhere.
Fraudulent or “guest” (honorary/gift) authorship, and omission of eligible contributors, are breaches of IJLSAR policy and may lead to editorial action, including retraction.
7. Group and Consortium Authorship
When research is conducted by a group or consortium, individual author contributions should be clearly defined in the Author Contributions Statement.
A collaborative group may be listed as the author, with individual group members identified in a footnote or appendix.
8. Contact and Queries
